Spiti valley

Spiti valley, also known as the coldest deserted place in India, is found in the Himalayas. It is a beautiful valley with a mesmerizing view located in Himachal Pradesh which is quite famous among tourists. The valley remains cold throughout the year because of its high altitude. The word ‘Spiti’ means middle which indicates the land between India and Tibet. Spiti valley has different Monasteries which are quite famous in the whole of India. The best time to visit is from April to June when the temperature reaches 15 to 20 degree celsius however in extreme winters it reaches -15 to -20 degree celsius. 

  1. Visit the sacred Nako lake

Nako lake is a lake found in high altitudes which islocated in Spiti valley but people from Spiti valley often visit there. The lake has clear water and is considered sacred by the native people there. It also has a waterfall near it which has water melted from ice. The lake, the mountains, the view, and the waterfall make it a mesmerizing place to visit. The best time to visit there is from April to June. The lake is also close to the Tibetan border. If you are looking for a relaxing place to feel spiritual, Nako lake is your perfect destination.

  1. The famous key Monastery in Langza

Langza is one of the highest valleys with an altitude of 4400 meters and has a population of 137 people. Langza is a  beauty found in Spiti valley which has the infamous key Monastery.This village is 14 km away from Kaza. The Monastery has a tall 

Buddha statue which is a great attraction for tourists and provides a

mesmerizing view for sightseeing. Also there are many lakes present in langza which are at a high altitude making it a perfect place for various adventurous activities like trekking and camping. There are unique mud houses present in the langza valley which are proven to be great attractions for tourists as they can also stay and avail modern facilities with a sense of traditional touch. 

  1. A drive to Komik, the highest village in Asia 

Komik village is relatively near to the capital city Shimla which makes it easier to travel. It also has one of the highest monasteries to reach by any vehicle and that is why it attracts a lot of bikers. The natives believe that the buddha present in the monastery is considered to be the future buddha and is worshiped by a lot of people. And you can also get a chance to live in the monastery with the monks to get a better perspective of their living. If you visit the village you can also pay a visit to the only cafe that is eco cafe. You can also enjoy stargazing at night time which is proven to be really peaceful for some people. You can also buy  handmade carpets shawls there which are really eye catching.  

4. Kunzum pass

Kunzum pass is worth visiting and is located at a height of 4551 above the sea level. The best time to visit there is from June to September because the weather is relatively stable. The pass is covered with unique buddhist flags makes the place more mesmerizing. You can also witness awesome sunsets and sunrises there. It comes between Spiti valley and Lahaul valley. There is also a temple dedicated to kunzum Devi. The place is a perfect combination of adventure as well as spirituality. There are no such hotels present in the pass but you also get a chance to live like a native in their traditional homestays and experience their living. You can also view spiti valley and the second largest glacier that is bara-sigri so it is a perfect place for sightseeing. 

5. Dhankar lake

Dhankar is the former capital city of spiti valley which is at a high altitude. People also prefer to trek from dhankar village to the dhankar lake which is a great adventure activity. People sometimes also suffer from breathing problems due to low oxygen because of the high altitude. Although the trek is somehow challenging, at the end it will all be worth it because of the beautiful view of the lake and the calmness you will experience there once you reach. The lake is surrounded by heavenly, snow capped himalayan ranges. Don’t  forget to carry your essentials while trekking toward the lake and the essentials must include water snacks and medication. The words can not justify what you will experience there.

6. Visit pin valley national park

 The pin valley national park was established in 1958 covering an area of 675 square kilometers. The park has two different routes for summer and winter because of heavy snowfall and landslides. The park is in a cold deserted area in Himachal pradesh. The park has varieties of shrubs, flora and fauna. The park separates the districts of Lahaul and spiti. The weather is usually cold there so you should prefer not to visit there during extreme winters and visit during the summer season in order to witness the true natural beauty of the park. The park shelters various endangered species of fauna such as snow leopard and Siberian ibex. If you are a nature lover you must try to visit this park once in your life. 

      7. Visit Kaza  

Kaza is one of the most famous cities of spiti valley. People from all over the country travel to this city. The city is the perfect combination of etnic culture with a tint of modernity. It is surrounded by a number of various enchanted rivers  and snow capped mountains. Kaza is different from the other valleys of spiti because of the availability of the resources. Kaza is home to one of the prominent monasteries named Key Monastery which is very significant to the people residing in the city. The highest post office of India is just a few kilometers away from Kaza. If you are lucky enough you may also spot a snow leopard in the kibber village.

8. Chandra Tal

Located in the high altitude and surrounded by the himalayan ranges, chandratal lake is situated in the  spiti district of himachal pradesh. It is located at a height of 3340 meters above sea level. One can also enjoy an overnight camp around the lake which will give you a new experience altogether. You can also have a look at the crystal clear night skies full of stars which are rare nowadays during your night camp. Chandratal lake is honored because it was mentioned in the Mahabharata. You can also book a guest house as per convenience if you are not comfortable in staying in your own tents. During winters the lake gets frozen and the temperature there can even get as low as -20 degree celsius.

From pin national park to kunzum pass, Spiti valley is full of such diverse and wonderful places. It has various eye-catching landscapes ranging from rivers to forests to mountains to lakes. You take along with you different experiences along with baggage full of memories and pictures. You will learn about their cultures. You will get to know more about your guts and how much of an adventurer you are and at the same time, you will get the chance to be more spiritual and discover calmness. So, a trip to Spiti valley is where you not only enjoy but yet learn, grow as a person, and experience as a human.
